Just around the corner from where I live rests Arthur’s Seat. A historic site that unfortunately is closed down due to safety issues, if you look at the state it is in though I wouldn’t blame them. I have been shooting in Black and White recently because I feel it creates more emotion in your shot. Take a look at what is Arthur’s Seat Watch Tower and visit sometime, they also have a bar and grill restaurant which should entice the younger crowd to get out there, after all Summer is approaching.
Over the weekend I weaved through a maze of Melbourne’s Lanes, alleyways and little streets. Unfortunately the weather was holding back my ultimate photography super powers, restricting me to a measly two lanes. The tucked away secrets reminded me a lot of my travels through Italy. The vibe of a European vacation, not a care in the world but for the conversation and the warm cup of coffee you are holding. To check out Hosier Lane “click here”

I have been wearing these shoes for quite some time no. I thought I would show them some respect and post them on my wall.
Received as a present from my older brother this Kodak Six 20 as seen its days. He purchased it somewhere in the sticks, I honestly could not remember where it was from. All I know is that this camera was manufactured in 1951 through to 1955, they call it the Six 20 Kodak because funnily enough it holds 620 Kodak Film. This is the second camera of 2 in my collection and I plan on collecting more. I took these photos with a DIY photography booth. The total cost for creating the booth was $18AUS, the only expensive item that you will or dont have to obtain is the lighting setup. You can easily get by with a couple of strong spotlights with your built in flash attached, but I believe its all about even light. Making sure that the highlights are under control and that your object is sufficiently lit up making it seem life like. Its all about controlling the light. My setup consisted of two strobes with soft-boxes attached, allowing me to create an even light source, one lit up the camera from the front and the other from behind, the white board and rebounding light did the rest.

On break from taking pictures of the Mornington Railway Station I came across this patch of Daisy’s, I think, amongst some overgrown grass. Using the 50mm lens I was able to push the F-Stop/F-Number, I believe I opened it to 1.8, which allowed me to single out my focus point. Again I was using the polarized filter, and also with some post production tweaks in Adobe Lightroom I was able to capture a true wonderland. Enjoy
As good as a married couple this pair was not going to separate…….joined by the rubber and locked by a knot, these two were taking it in. The Sun was setting on the town of Apollo Bay, a small, secluded part of Australia, where the sounds of the ocean come knocking on your door.
Its always hard trying to figure out how natural light works with your camera, especially when your time is limited. I shot the pictures at 1/25 of a second with an aperture of 22 at iso 400, it was a little over exposed but I didn’t mind the slight burn out, it helped when converting them to black and white. I have been up and down the Great Ocean Road several times before, the difference this time round is the ability to take pictures with my canon 600D, so stay in touch, more to come.
